We build the software businesses run on, and we publish what we learn doing it. This site is the second half of that sentence.

Who we are

Cognare s.r.o. is a Slovak software company. Since 2003 we have built, rescued and modernised the large web applications that businesses actually run on — the ones too big, too old or too far behind schedule to hand to just anyone. One system we wrote has been in production since 2003 and has grown past 265,000 lines; another is used daily by thousands of people at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

We work in six framework families every week — React, Vue, Svelte, Angular, Flutter and Ext JS — which is why the same demo on this site is often built in all of them.

Why this site exists

It started in 2008 as a place to collect what Ext JS developers kept asking for, and it worked: the archive here goes back that far. It stopped being updated while we were busy building the applications above — and that is exactly what makes it worth restarting, because those years are the material.

So the rule now is simple. What we learn on client work, we write down here. Every example is a running application with its full commented source, and the write-up explains why it is built that way, not just how. Many are one specification built several times over — Ext JS, React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, Flutter — so you can read the same problem solved six ways and judge the differences yourself.

The authors

Who writes it

Saki — Jozef Sakáloš. He joined the Sencha forums on 2 April 2007, and over the following eight and a half years he answered questions there: 27,664 posts and a place on Sencha’s own community support team. A considerable share of the Ext JS answers still circulating on the web goes back to those threads. This site bears his name, and he still writes most of what appears on it.

At his side stands Jozef Kejst. Saki trained him, and they have worked together ever since. He leads long-term projects, including one of his own that he has been building successfully for years.

Between them: deep knowledge of Ext JS, production code still running, long-term, very large-scale projects, such as documentation-processing software for the United Nations Geneva conference.
