Cookie Policy
Draft pending legal review. This policy lists the cookies the site sets today; keep it in sync as new cookies or third-party widgets are added.
What cookies we use
We keep cookies to a minimum. They fall into two groups.
Strictly necessary (always on)
These are required for the site to work and are exempt from consent. They cannot be switched off.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you logged in | Session / until logout |
theme | Remembers your light/dark/system choice | 1 year |
cookie_consent | Remembers your consent choice | 1 year |
examples_card_size | Remembers how large you asked the example cards to be drawn | 1 year |
listing_return | Remembers the listing you came from, so the back link on a post returns you to it | Session |
Non-essential (only with consent)
These are loaded only after you accept them in the cookie banner:
- Third-party widgets — Cloudflare Turnstile, used to protect the public contact forms and the sign-up form from bots. Until you accept, no request is made to Cloudflare at all: the form shows a short notice in place of the check, with a button to load it. Loading it from that button counts as accepting non-essential cookies, and the notice says so.
Because the check is needed to submit those forms, you can also load it from the form itself rather than from the banner — declining in the banner does not lock you out of contacting us or creating an account. Your data reaches Cloudflare (a provider in the United States) only once the check is loaded; see the Privacy Policy for what that transfer involves.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Analytics, without cookies
We measure which pages get read using Matomo, which we host ourselves on our own server in the EU. It is configured to run without cookies: it stores nothing on your device and cannot recognise you across visits or across other websites. Your IP address is anonymised before the visit is recorded, and the data is never shared with anyone.
Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, this does not require consent and is not covered by the banner. It is also not sent anywhere else — there is no third-party analytics provider involved.
Managing your choice
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential
cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the cookie_consent
cookie in your browser, which brings the banner back. You can also block or
delete cookies in your browser settings, though strictly-necessary cookies are
needed for login to work.
See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data more broadly.
